The Best Fifa Football Awards 2016:

On the 9th January 2017, Fifa held their annual Best Fifa Football Award ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland, to celebrate some of the best players, coaches and members in football over the past year.

This year was triumph for some players and coaches who were lucky enough to receive the awards that night. The awards, were as follows:

- The Best Fifa Men's Player

- The Best Fifa Women's Player

- The Best Fifa Men's Coach

- The Best Fifa Women's Coach

- Fair Play Award

- Puskas Award

- The Fifa Award for Outstanding Career

- Fifa Fifpro World11

All of these awards were given to those who have shown talent and dedication to the world of football and have been role models to those all over the world. Many people that night deserved praise and credit but there was one man in particular who got praise amongst all others; Christiano Ronaldo.

The Real Madrid and Portugal forward, beat Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann to the prize. 2016 has been the year for Ronaldo, as he also won the Ballon d'Or in December, with both honours recognition and success in the Champions League with Real and Euro 2016 with Portugal.

With 44 games, 42 goals, 14 assists, 2016 "It's been my best year so far".

Of course, there were other football enthusiasts named on the night for their achievements and success in football.

Carli Lloyd of the United States was named the world's best female player.

Leicester's Claudio Ranieri was named the best men's coach, ex-Germany boss Silvia Neid won the female coach award, while Penang's Mohd Faiz Subri received the Puskas award for the best goal of 2016.

The Fan Award went to supporters of Liverpool and German club Borussia Dortmund, who together sang a moving rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' - an anthem adopted by both teams - before their Europa League Quarter-Final in April. The match came the day before the 27th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, in which 96 Liverpool fans died.

Colombian side Atletico Nacional were given the Fair Play Award for their part in the aftermath of the plane crash which killed 19 players and staff of the Brazilian side Chapecoense. Chapecoense were en route to their first leg of their Copa Sudamericana final when the plane crashed, killing 71 people.

The final award was the Fifa Fifpro World11, each year the Fifpro invite all professional footballers in the world to compose the best team of the year, named the Fifpro World XI. Every player is requested to pick one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards. For this award it was Real Madrid and Barcelona team members that were chosen to receive the award.

Manuel Neuer, Dani Alves, Gerard Pique, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Christiano Ronaldo.
